The 2022 Canadian Car Of The Year Overall Winner Is The Honda Civic

If there's an award, the Honda Civic has won it.

Here's the latest: the new 11th-generation Honda Civic launched in the summer of 2021 is AJAC's 2022 Canadian Car Of The Year.

AJAC, or the automobile Journalists Association of Canada, had already named the new Civic the Best Small Car in Canada for 2022. The Civic was also named the 2022 North American Car Of The Year. The Civic is part of a Honda lineup that the Canadian Black Book named the Best Car Brand For Retained Value. The Civic was named AutoTrader's Best Overall Car in Canada and it earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the highest possible safety rating. Plus consumers voted with their wallets – the Civic ended 2021 as Canada's best-selling car for a 24th consecutive year.

That's why we decided to find out what Islanders think. You can read the opinions of new Civic owners here.

As for the latest award for the Civic's trophy cabinet, AJAC picked the Civic over and above a lengthy list of competitors, from the BMW 3 Series and Toyota Supra to the Lexus IS and Genesis G70.

The Civic isn't new to the AJAC Car Of The Year Award; the Civic was also won the following AJAC awards:

  • • Best New Economy Car in 1992
  • • Best New Economy Car in 1996
  • • Best New Sports Coupe in 2000
