2026 EV Incentives: The Biggest Savings Year Is Here

If you’ve been considering making the switch to electric, 2026 delivers the strongest incentive opportunity we’ve seen.

The federal government has introduced the new Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) — and it offers significant savings on eligible electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles across the Centennial Auto Group lineup.

Even better? Eligible vehicles purchased or leased on or after February 16, 2026 qualify, even though the program officially launches April 1.

And like the previous program, incentives are applied directly at the dealership at the time of purchase — no waiting for rebates.

How Much Can You Save?

For 2026:

  • $5,000 on fully electric vehicles (EVs)

  • $2,500 on plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs)

Important: Incentives decrease every year starting in 2027.

  • 2027: $4,000 EV / $2,000 PHEV

  • 2028–2029: $3,000 EV / $1,500 PHEV

  • 2030: $2,000 EV / $1,000 PHEV

In short — 2026 is the peak savings year.

Eligible 2026 Centennial Vehicles

Eligibility applies to new vehicles (and demo models under 10,000 km). Most vehicles must have an MSRP under $50,000 (excluding freight/PDI, winter tires, financing, warranties, government incentives, and down payments).

Vehicles built in Canada qualify regardless of price point.

$5,000 Federal Incentive (Full EVs)

  • Dodge Charger Daytona (R/T, Scat Pack)

  • Kia EV4 (Light, Wind, Wind Premium, GT-Line)

  • Kia Niro EV (Wind, Wind+)

  • Nissan Leaf (S Plus, SV Plus, Platinum Plus)

$2,500 Federal Incentive (Plug-In Hybrids)

  • Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid (Select, 100th, Pinnacle, Limited)

  • Kia Niro PHEV (LX, EX, EX Premium)

  • Kia Sorento PHEV (LX)

  • Kia Sportage PHEV (EX, EX Premium)

Built-in-Canada Advantage

The Dodge Charger Daytona and Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid are built in Canada, meaning they qualify regardless of MSRP limitations — a significant benefit for shoppers.

Additional Incentives for Prince Edward Island Drivers

If you’re purchasing in PEI, you can stack the federal EVAP incentive with the PEI Universal EV Incentive:

  • $4,000 additional for EVs

  • $2,000 additional for PHEVs

That means eligible EV buyers in PEI could receive up to $9,000 in total incentives in 2026.

Why 2026 Is the Year to Act

Under EVAP, incentive amounts decline annually. Waiting could mean thousands less in savings.

If you’ve been thinking about switching to electric — whether for performance, fuel savings, environmental impact, or long-term value — this is the strongest financial opportunity available.
