The 4,650 vehicles sold by Kia Canada in February 2021 is an important statistic, but it only scratches the surface of what's going on at Kia. The story here is momentum. Kia is motoring forward, building success upon success.
THE BIG MO
Last year, after best-ever January and February results, Kia exited the initial lockdown phase with a bang, reporting best-ever monthly results in June, July, August, September, October, and December. In fact, July broke an all-time monthly sales record for Kia Canada, a record that was broken only one month later when 8,780 Kias were sold in August.
Clearly, Kia is still on the upswing, bolstered by a bundle of key awards that show the strength of the brand: Kia is the No.1 mass-market brand in J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability study and the winner of AJAC awards for the K5 (best large car) and Telluride (best large utility, for a second consecutive year).
SELTOS
Through the first two months of 2021, the Seltos is now Kia's best seller in Canada. The Seltos launched almost exactly one year ago just as the COVID-19 pandemic began to rage. Despite lockdowns and occasionally limited supply, demand for the Seltos has proven to be remarkably strong. Across Canada, 1,819 copies of the Seltos were sold in January and February.
NEW PRODUCT
2021 is yet another big year for new product launches at Kia. An all-new fourth-generation 2021 Kia Sorento arrived just as the year kicked off, the Sedona-replacing 2022 Carnival is due this spring, we expect to see a revamped 2022 Stinger soon, and Kia's EV lineup will receive a jolt soon, as well.
It's not just a big deal for Canada – where Kia gained more market share than any other brand in 2020 – but also in Prince Edward Island. In western PEI, for example, Kia's market share in 2020 was 54% stronger than it was in 2019.
