Every Mazda Tested By The IIHS Is Now A 2021 Top Safety Pick+

Every Mazda tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has now earned the very highest safety honours after a barrage of crash tests.

The Mazda CX-30 is the latest Mazda to be tested by the IIHS in six different crash tests: driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests. To receive a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS, the CX-30 needed to achieve GOOD ratings in all of these tests as well as ADVANCED or SUPERIOR ratings in active crash prevention, and ACCEPTABLE or GOOD headlight ratings.

The Mazda CX-30 did just that, which means that Mazda enters 2021 with Top Safety Pick+ vehicles across the lineup.

  • 2021 Mazda 3
  • 2021 Mazda 3 Sport
  • 2021 Mazda 6
  • 2021 Mazda CX-3
  • 2021 Mazda CX-30
  • 2021 Mazda CX-5
  • 2021 Mazda CX-9

The 2021 Mazda MX-5 Miata has not yet been tested, but already Mazda has more Top Safety Pick+ vehicles than any other brand. More than Volvo and Audi, which have four. More than Volkswagen, which has zero. More than Toyota's three, Tesla's 1, more than Subaru's five. Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Acura, and Hyundai all have two. Ford and Cadillac have one. Lincoln has none. Neither does Chevrolet, neither does BMW.

What makes Mazda vehicles so safe? Continuous improvement. That's the Mazda way. When there's something that can be improved, Mazda improves it. The result is a lineup of vehicles that are expertly designed to avoid crashes and engineered to keep you as safe as possible if an accident were to ever happen.
