Kia's Canadian Sales Surged in 2017

Rising to a five-year high, Kia's Canadian sales surged in 2017 thanks to success of established and brand new models.

Forte? Up 33 percent. Sportage? Up 16%.

But Kia also relied upon two recently added vehicles, the hybrid Kia Niro crossover and the premium Kia Stinger sports sedan, for 1,762 of the company's nationwide sales in 2017.

Midst rapid marketplace shifts that see more and more consumers turning away from traditional passenger cars, the Kia Forte's blend of high content levels and true value caused Forte sales to rise to the highest level in history, bucking the industry's trend. Remarkably well equipped, even a mid-grade Kia Forte EX+ features a sunroof, heated steering wheel, 17-inch alloys, and proximity access.

Not surprisingly, the growth experienced by Kia's crossover family was notable. Kia Canada sold nearly 30,000 Sorentos and Sportages in 2017, a 9-percent increase compared with 2016. The benefits of Dynamax all-wheel drive are not lost on Canadian buyers.
